Veterans and Active Military personnel can enjoy free meals and services on Veterans Day, as a special thank you for their service.
Here are a few Houston-area restaurants and organizations offering veterans and/or active military free food, haircuts, pet adoption, and more.
FREE FOOD
Applebee’s: Free meal November 11 for veterans and active military personnel. Proof of military service required.
BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse: All veterans and active military receive a free entrée ($12.95 and under) November 11 at BJ’s Restaurant. Dine-in only. Plus $5 beers for all!
Boston Market: All active duty or retired military personnel and their families can receive a free brownie or cookie with any purchase November 11. No ID required.
Buffalo Wild Wings: Veterans and active duty military receive a free small 10-12 traditional or boneless wings and small fries.
California Pizza Kitchen: Active or retired military can get a free entree from a special Veteran’s Day menu at California Pizza Kitchen November 11. The menu includes pizza, full-size salads, and pasta. Dine-in only. Must show military ID, proof of service, or be in uniform.
Chili’s: Active duty military and veterans can get a free meal at Chili’s November 11. They have a choice from a special menu.
Denny’s: Active, inactive, and retired military personnel can enjoy a free Build Your Own Grand Slam® November 11 from 5 am – noon at Denny’s. Valid military ID is required.
Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse: Veterans and active duty personnel will receive 50% off their meal November 11 and up to three additional guests will receive 10% off their meals, as well. Valid military ID required. Beverages, dessert, tax and gratuity not included.
Golden Corral: {NOTE: This is November 14.} Golden Corral will provide a free dinner buffet Monday, November 14, from 5 pm – 9 pm, for Military Appreciation Night. This is for military heroes, past and present. Golden Corral has served more than 4.7 million free meals to military since it started Military Appreciation Monday 15 years ago.
Hooter’s: Veterans and active military personnel get a free entree November 11. Choices include wings, burger, chicken sandwich or chicken salad. Must present military ID or proof of military service.
IHOP: Veterans and active duty military can get free stack of Red, White, and Blue pancakes November 11, from 7 am – 7 pm. Pancakes are topped with glazed strawberries, blueberry compote, and whipped cream!
LongHorn Steakhouse: Veterans and active military members will receive a complimentary appetizer or dessert November 11 with proof of service plus 10% off for the table. No purchase required.
McDonald’s (Greater Houston) — Veterans and current military servicemen and servicewomen can enjoy a free sandwich November 11 for Veterans Day. Simply tell the McDonald’s Crew “I served in the U.S. Military” to get this freebie. The offer is valid for any sandwich on the menu including Big Mac, Egg McMuffin and Filet-o-Fish.
Menchie’s: Veterans and military personnel can receive a free 6 oz. cup of frozen yogurt at Menchie’s November 11 with military ID.
Olive Garden: Olive Garden will provide a free entrée from a special menu to active duty military and military veterans, which features six of the restaurant’s most popular items. Guests also get unlimited homemade soup or salad and breadsticks. Folks dining at the table with the veteran get 10% off their meal.
Outback Steakhouse: Free Bloomin’ Onion appetizer and beverage at Outback Steakhouse for military, November 11.
Red Robin: Veterans and active military get a free Red’s Tavern Double burger and Bottomless Steak Fries at participating locations. Proof of service required.
Red Lobster: Active military and veterans can get a select free appetizer or dessert from Red Lobster November 10-11 to thank them for their service.
Ruby Tuesday: All veterans, active duty and reserve military service members with valid military ID can enjoy one free appetizer (up to $10 value) on Veterans Day, November 11.
Spaghetti Warehouse: The Italian eatery is encouraging folks to take a veteran to lunch or dinner for free with its Buy-One-Get-One-Free coupon. Order one of its 11 Spaghetti entrees or Incredible 15-Layer Lasagna and receive a second one for free. Download the coupon from the Spaghetti Warehouse website, or show mobile version on phone. Valid November 11-13.
Starbucks: Veterans, active duty service members and spouses can enjoy a free tall brewed coffee on November 11.
Texas Roadhouse: This Texas favorite is opening for lunch Friday, November 11, just to provide free meals to veterans, retired, and active military.
These folks will get a free meal from a choice of 10, including a beverage (soda, tea or coffee). ID is required. Dine-in only.
FREE SERVICES & EVENTS in HOUSTON
City of Houston: The City of Houston is hosting its annual Veteran’s Day Salute November 11. The 9 am event at Houston City Hall (901 Bagby) features a Veteran’s Job Fair, Health Fair, ceremony and parade. Free parking is available in the Theatre District parking, Tranquility Garage, entrances 2 and 5 only from 9 am – 12:30 pm.
Great Clips: Active and retired military can get a free haircut November 11, or pick up a card to use anytime before 12/31/16. Folks who get a haircut can pick up a free haircut card to share with a veteran or active military personnel.
Hermann Park Railroad: Veterans and active duty military personnel can take a free ride on the Hermann Park Railroad November 11, as a “thank you” for serving our country. Train rides are open 10 am – 5 pm, weather permitting. Check in at the Kinder Train Station podium with military ID.
Houston Humane Society: Pets for Vets allows active and retired military to adopt a pet for free at Houston Humane Society November 7-13. Located at 14700 Almeda.
Orangetheory Fitness: This local fitness franchise will offer free workouts for all veterans at Orangetheory from Thursday, November 10 – Sunday, November 13. Veterans must show their military ID and call any of the nine Orangetheory Fitness locations in the greater Houston area.
